Lily Zoumpouli was born in the Greek port city of Thessaloniki in 1994. After early studies in Greece with photographic team Stereosis and Stratos Kalafatis, she then participated in a workshop with world renowned Danish photographer Jacob Aue Sobol which was to be a pivotal moment in her career. In 2013 she moved to England to further her studies at University of the Arts London (UAL) and in 2014 attended a workshop with acclaimed Swedish photographer Anders Petersen. She was selected to become a member of Atonal Photography Collective in 2016 and in 2017 was shortlisted for the Gomma Grant Award.
Often through the use of her own body, her personal, intimate, experimental and sometimes provocative images document her generation’s vision of self-doubt, sexuality and intimacy - recording their joy, pain and exploration of identity.
